UPSC Questions & Answers

UPSC Photo & Signature Resizing FAQs

Is candidate Name and Date of Photo (DOP) mandatory for UPSC in 2026? ▾

Yes. UPSC's official notification strictly mandates that the candidate's photograph must not be more than 10 days old from the start of the online application process. The candidate's name and the date of taking the photograph must be clearly imprinted on the bottom of the photo.

What are the pixel dimensions for UPSC OTR photo and signature? ▾

UPSC requires photos and signatures to have equal height and width or aspect ratio within minimum 350 × 350 pixels up to maximum 1000 × 1000 pixels. Our resizer presets standard 500 × 500 px for photo and 500 × 250 px for signature to ensure optimal clarity.

What is the allowed file size range for UPSC applications? ▾

Both the photograph and signature for UPSC examinations (CSE, NDA, CDS, CAPF) must strictly weigh between 20.0 KB (minimum) and 300.0 KB (maximum) in JPG/JPEG format.

What percentage of the photo should the candidate's face occupy for UPSC? ▾

As per UPSC notification guidelines, the candidate's face should occupy at least 3/4th (approx. 70% to 75%) of the total photograph area with a clear frontal view and neutral expression.

Can I use the same photo for UPSC Preliminary, Mains, and Interview? ▾

Yes. UPSC requires candidates' appearance in the examination and interview to match the photograph uploaded during application/OTR. If you have a beard or spectacles in your application photo, you must maintain the same look during the examination and personality test.
